In today’s Photoshop Workbench I’d like to show you a simple, yet elegant frame effect that is loaded with versatility because we’ll create it using Photoshop’s ever-malleable layer styles and blending options. Thanks so much to Ed Mattis for providing two lovely images of egrets.

Is there a way to reverse what you did with the image. Right now the main image is darker then the original. The edges were left alone. Wouldn’t it be better if we made the outside edges the darker part of the image and leave the bulk of the image correct?
I expect that you would merely apply the inner glow to the main image layer rather than the layer with the white square.
Hi Edmund and Dave. To accomplish the look you are after, try replacing the Inner Glow step with an Outer Glow instead. Hope this helps. Thanks!
Hi Mark,
I really like this technique! Thanks for all the free tutorials you provide!!!
