Photoshop Workbench 289: Fading a Photo Into a Crosshatch Drawing

During a recent RMSP Creative Compositing workshop in Boulder, one of the lively participants, Lindsay Castor, presented an image of a train that triggered a variety of clever ideas. One of the most exciting suggestions was to gradually fade the train into a drawing or painting. Lindsay and I loved the idea so we got right to work.

Although it’s possible to accomplish this effect using nothing but Photoshop, I greatly prefer the drawing and painting effects found in Filter Forge. Filter Forge offers a free, fully-functional 30-day trial. If you decide to purchase the software, click the link above, then enter the code ud4Nswev0ySA during checkout to receive a 40% discount.

Now get ready for an exhilarating ride…

Mark & Lindsay, even though I was there in person when you created this in the CC workshop, it’s just as exciting to see it happen again in this workbench! Love the resulting image!!!
