In other noteworthy news, I’ve decided not to write a Photographer’s Photoshop CS5 Companion eBook. Instead, I’m pouring my energy into two other exciting projects.
In addition to releasing the “What’s New in CS5″ videos, I’m making wonderful progress on an eBook about the spectacular world of HDR. It will feature both Photomatix and Photoshop tutorials, as well as useful workflow information that is absent in many other HDR books. The eBook will also include an image showcase packed with evocative images designed to inspire ideas for your own work. I’m hoping to release the HDR eBook this summer.
My other project is a complete departure from anything I’ve ever done. If you have children (or a child inside), they’ll be intrigued by my upcoming children’s book about a boy who dreams of flying. I’m co-writing and co-illustrating the book which features camera-based illustrations that employ HDR and several other creative techniques never seen before in children’s books.
Thanks for all of your support and encouragement!

Hi Mark,

Although I was one of the hundreds (thousands?) of “public beta testers” for PS CS 5, your videos show me what I missed or didn’t dig into sufficiently. PS CS 5 is an upgrade that’s a no-brianer for serious photographers. Your videos are a great introduction to the new features that are valuable for photographers.

Mark,
Thanks for your intro tutorial to this new feature. One observation: I think Mr. Owl may have been missing some back feathers. A possible suggestion that a geek friend told me was to cycle through the black, white and layer view to check the selection. Does that make sense?

Thank you for these WONDERFUL CS5 tutorials; I am CRAZY about CS5, and would have never visited some of the little goodies you’ve already shared with us. I’m so glad a recent student in your “Spirit of Boulder” Class told me about your site, your wonderful class, and how much I would enjoy looking into what you have to offer us. She’s very right! THANK you!

I enjoyed the videos so much I wanted a copy. I paid my money, received the link and downloaded a copy.
Guess what, THEY DON”T WORK. The audio is fine, the video stays frozen on the opening shot.
I hesitated to post this comment here but I have sent emails and received no answer.

Thanks Mark, these are fantastic! I’m so glad I bought the set so I can watch at my own pace. Lew- I don’t know why they don’t work for you, maybe your movie player is messed up?

Marks’ manager emailed me immediately after seeing my comment above and straightened out the problem, which was on my end, and now I’m happy as a clam. Thanks again for great response and great tutorials.

MSJ- I think I have watched ten content aware healing demos this week. Yours is the only one that shows this tool at 100% on real images. Thanks for the honesty. Showing us where it works and where it doesn’t is so helpful!

Mark, I have CS3, planning to go to CS5, I really use and like your CS3 companion eBook, and will miss that you will not have a CS5 companion eBook, would it benefit me to get your CS4 companion and the CS5 videos or is CS5 that much more different than CS4?
