Photoshop Workbench 222: Floating Film Frame Effect
View Smaller Version or Purchase a Downloadable QuickTime Video
Imagine an image hovering above itself suspended inside a film frame. Our mission today will be to create this floating film frame effect. To do so, we’ll need two things––a beautiful image and a classic film frame. Sham from Singapore has provided us with an evocative image of a mysterious object washed onto a beach. As for the film frame, if you don’t have one in your image inventory, consider photographing one on a light table or locate one on the internet via a Google search. Please remember to honor copyright laws.
As we move through this creative process, here are a few interesting things you may learn: 1) A slick way to merge a photo with a white background, 2) How to switch between transform options while the Free Transform bounding box is active, and 3) How to create a unique, fully editable layer from a layer style.
