This Workbench is dedicated to the idea of non-destructive editing. Our goal is to cut a postage stamp edge for a photograph, then replace the photograph with a different one. What will make our process so unique is that every step along the way will be 100% reversible. For instance, we’ll use a vector-based Shape Layer to mask the edge, a Clipping Mask to place the content within the edge, Photoshop CS4′s Masks panel to Feather the edge, and a Smart Object to replace the photograph. If you plan to place a variety of photographs into the same mask, you’ll find this technique indispensable.
