About a month ago I demoed a method for creating a “tossed-on-the-table” collage effect. Since then, I discovered an alternative method that is equally fascinating, quite easy to achieve, uses only one photograph, and teaches a new and useful set of skills. This method employs a defined pattern and vector shapes. Intrigued? I know I am.
I’m not sure who submitted today’s image, but it is an absolutely breathtaking photograph of Tybee Island Light in Georgia.

Mark,
Super great tutorial. I’m in the midst of designing a leave-behind marketing piece and will implement this technique today! Thank you.

Mark,
This is a very interesting technique worth lots of possibilities as well as the landscape genre you chose here.
The one that jumped out at me is for a group shot eg “team” photo where the background is unimportant or distracting. There you could just throw down your images wherever the faces occur and use your gradient colored background to make the faces really the important feature.

Another cool technique. Thanks. Important to make the document the same size as original pattern. Also a quicker way to duplicate the image is to Alt>Select>Drag the last frame. Move as many as you like and transform during or after alt copying.
