Welcome to my Photoshop 101 Series where I’ll introduce you to the wonderful Photoshop universe. It’s important to know that although Photoshop is a monstrous program, as photographers, we only need to tap into a small part of it. Once you begin to understand how to use the essential tools, I’m certain that you’ll discover just how much fun this amazing creativity-broadening tool can be.
If you’re new as a photographer to Photoshop, it can be daunting figuring out where to begin. Have no fear, I’m here to give you all of the basics to get started editing your favorite photographs. In this tutorial series, I’ll cover the nine topics that you see listed below. Although these tutorials are recorded in Photoshop CS3, the majority of the concepts will apply to Photoshop versions well into the future.
Ironically, as you are about to witness in the upcoming tutorials, most of the basic tools that you require don’t actually exist in Photoshop. Instead, they exist in the two pieces of software that naturally ship with Photoshop––Adobe Bridge and Adobe Camera Raw. I’ll take you on a sequential tour through the basics of using Bridge, Camera Raw, and Photoshop. If you’re seeking more comprehensive information, or when you’re ready to take the next step, be sure to check out my eBook, The Photographer’s Photoshop Companion, available right here on this web site.
